I was taken out of my comfort zone this week! My friend Jo, of Jo Blackwell Photography was down in Newquay for a few days visiting her daughter. I thought it might be a good idea to see what it was like to be in front of the camera instead of behind it. Well, that's not strictly true: I needed some up to date images to go with the revamp of the website.
We took the boys, Knut & Bazel and headed down to Great Western Beach in Newquay. It was quite a mild day and fairly overcast which is always good news if you're using natural light for your portraits. The dogs love the beach and were not really in the mood to have their photos taken. They managed to look everywhere except at the camera and once released headed off across the sand at a rate of knots.
In the meantime, Jo and I headed back up to the back of the beach where there was an interesting wall which would serve as a backdrop. Pose, pose, snap, snap and we were done! Well, it seemed to go that quickly but then that's also the job of a good portrait photographer: to put your subject at their ease and get the best from them.
Here are the results:
I'm pleased and now feel ready to pin down my friend Allison Davies of Allison Davidson Photography to have some more done. This time I'm hoping to have some photographs of 'me in action'; the boys might have to stay at home for this one!
